One Book - The Church Age story begins
Acts
The book of Acts provides a historical view of the beginning of church history, as Luke authors his second book. It starts with the glorious ascension into heaven of our Lord Jesus Christ. A reminder of the forty days that Jesus spent with them after His resurrection brings tremendous joy, for the Kingdom of God had arrived. Jesus performed undeniable proofs of His Kingship and instructed them to wait, for soon the Father would send the promised Holy Spirit. This gift would come with great power, comfort, and new life. When Christ died on the cross for us, the curtain to the Holy of Holies was torn wide open, giving us direct access to God; no longer would sin separate us from our Creator. This amazing gift of the Holy Spirit empowers us to be witnesses to all people and nations. From our daily devotions to worshipping the Lord in quiet times, we should never lose sight of this glorious gift. God's redemptive plan brings salvation to both Jewish and Gentile people alike. There is such great hope for all; regardless of a person's ethnicity, we are all one in Christ.
